A Communication Technician Workday
1. Morning Routine & Affirmations
Woke up around 6:00 am
Let the dog out to potty.
Morning hygiene: shower, brush teeth, dress up for work.
Recite daily affirmation for health, growth, and success
Leave the house by 6:30 am
2. Work Duties
Arrive at work at 7 am.
Check inventory in the warehouse and grab whatever I need for the day.
Visually inspect vehicles and load up work vehicles with a daily inventory.
Check email and respond to emails.
Check to see my job routes for the morning.
Run Premise Health Test on customer service equipment if it's a service call or verify what needs to be installed.
Run mobile watch tower to check and verify customer services.
Take off from the warehouse and go to the customer's house for internet modem installation.
(7:30 am – 8:30 appointment timeframe)
Arrived at the destination of the customer's residence location, greeted the customer at the door, and verified work that needed to be done.
I ran a new aerial rg6 drop and rg6 cable outlet for the modem.
Installed and provisioned modem router gateway
I had the customer create a personal SSID and Passphrase for Wi-Fi.
I performed customer education on the usage and connection of Wi-Fi Mesh Networks.
Finish with the customer, complete a report, and close out the ticket/job.
Then I went on to the next customer's house.
(8:00 am – 10:00 appointment timeframe)
Arrived at the next customer's house.
Greeted the customer at the door and verified internet service issues.
The customer stated intermittent internet service issues.
I ran multiple tests at the tap-up on the telephone pole and at the customer premises and had some issues at the TAP service entry point.
I verified it through the mobile watch tower and saw neighboring modems with the same signature signal issues of RF (radio Frequency) suck out of mid-range frequencies. This causes a low MER (Modulation error ratio).
Contact the Network Maintenance Technician and submit a repair ticket.
I advised the customer that service repair was needed and that a ticket had been opened and should be fixed between 24 and 48 hours.
Finish with the customer, complete a report, and close out the ticket/job.
Then I went to the next customer's house.
(9:00 am – 11:00am appointment timeframe)
Arrived at the next customer's house for a non-responding cable set-top box.
Greeted the customer inside a senior assisted care facility.
The customer stated that she could not change channels with the Comcast remote.
I asked to see the remote and noticed it was not lighting up when buttons were pressed.
I then replaced 2 AA batteries, factory reset, and paired the remote to the cable set-top box and TV.
It started to work again.
Explain to the customer that it was the battery in the remote and give the customer some spare batteries for future use.
Finish with the customer, complete a report, and close out the ticket/job.
3. 1 hour Lunch Break
It was a cold and rainy day, so I grabbed a hot bowl of Vietnamese beef noodle soup, "PHO."
4. Return to work
Did 3-4 more jobs after lunch.
5. Got off work/Dinner
Picked up my son, came home, and prepared dinner.
We made some homemade air-fried cheeseburgers.
6. Laundry
I put a load of laundry in the wash and folded the dry, clean clothes.
8. Personal Study Time
I worked on the Week 2 Discussion Post for UAGC
I also worked on the microbiology and lab course through Sophia.org to work toward my general education criteria at UAGC.
9. Teatime / Study break
Prepared a cup of sleepy-time tea.
Made sure my son was doing his homework and helped him if he had questions.
10. Relaxation & Affirmation
Wind down, reflect, and recite affirmations before going to sleep.
Introduction
In today's rapidly evolving digital technology, software applications are crucial for optimizing tasks, managing data, and enhancing productivity across various work environments. Word processors, spreadsheets, presentation software, and databases are foundational, each serving specific data management and communication purposes. This essay explores these core software applications, focusing on their distinct functions, advantages, limitations, and practical relevance in different scenarios. Through a comparative assessment, we aim to determine how suitable these applications are for documenting daily activities and pinpoint each software application's strengths and weaknesses.

Productivity Application Functions, Advantages, and Disadvantages
Each application type caters to specific tasks and data handling requirements, offering functionality in word processors, analysis in spreadsheets, and presentation slides. Word processors handle text-based documents, spreadsheets manage numerical data and calculations, presentation tools aid visual communication through slides, and databases efficiently organize and retrieve structured data.
The function of word processors like Microsoft Word or Google Docs is primarily used for creating, editing, and formatting text-based documents. Word processors enable users to write essays, reports, letters, and other text-based formatting. An advantage of a word processor is that it usually provides ease of use and spell-checking and quickly corrects any mistake. It is also available in the cloud using Office365 or Google to allow multiple devices to collaborate with the document. A disadvantage is that data can sometimes be lost due to data corruption and typically requires a personal computer to view or edit documents if the application is installed on the computer. Failure of internet access can hinder connection issues with cloud-based word processors like 0ffice365 or Google.
The functions of Spreadsheets, such as Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets, are designed to organize data into rows and columns. These Spreadsheets can facilitate number calculations, data, and visualizations through charts. An advantage of spreadsheets is that they offer powerful built-in formulas and functions that do calculations that simplify complex mathematical functions. A disadvantage of spreadsheets is that while they can handle complex mathematical functions, there is a risk of calculation errors, especially when dealing with large numbers.
The functions of Presentation Software, such as Microsoft PowerPoint or Google Slides, are used to create visual presentations through presentation slides. The presentation software allows users to integrate text, images, and multimedia to present a visual presentation, which is an advantage. A disadvantage is that it can be design overload by overusing design elements of animation, which can sometimes make the presentation less effective.
The functions of Databases, such as Microsoft Access or MySQL, are designed to store, manage, and retrieve structured Data. These databases structure and organize large volumes of data systematically, enabling easy retrieval and manipulation. However, setting up and managing databases can be complex, requiring specialized knowledge and skills, which may pose a learning curve for users.
Conclusion
After looking at word processors, spreadsheets, presentation tools, and databases, I see they all have jobs. Word processors are great for writing, spreadsheets are awesome for numbers, presentations make things look fantastic, and databases keep data organized. Understanding what each one is good at helps people pick the right one for what they need to do. Word processors are for writing, spreadsheets are for numbers, presentations are for showing off ideas, and databases are for organizing stuff. These tools keep getting better as technology improves. It's important to know what they can and can't do to use them well for handling info and talking with others.
